QMS has extensive experience re-powered all type of vessels. We specialize is this type of work. Often not only do we fit new engines but total transform the vessel from stem to stern and make it better than new.
The photos below show the process we undertake for a full re-power. The vessel came to us from the local Coast Guard. While the boat was perfect fit the drive-train was showing its age and be-coming unreliable. We provided a full re-fit. The cabin and hull were stripped and re-finished using the latest marine coatings and the interior completely re-done.
Under the engine covers two new Mercury Diesel engines were fitted with new counter rotating bravo 3 stern drives. This upped the vessels power from 440hp to 640hp. All the mechanical and electrical systems were replaced. The result was a boat better than new for less than the price of a new boat.
The other end of the scale is a simple outboard swap. The engine can be unbolted and the new engine installed. Often some ancillary items need to be replaced, or the owner feels like updating the rest of the vessel to match the shiny new engine.
A re-power lets you keep the boat you love but with all the advantages of the latest engine technology giving a more powerful, quiet and fuel efficient power plant. In many cases, you can’t get a new version of the boat you have.
